My brief look at the teams:

Adelaide United: potential champions. Even without the flair of Flores, much better depth overall.

Brisbane Roar: even with the loss of three key players, Ange's system means that this will not be as big a blow and it did happen when SVD left.

Central Coast Mariners: can never be counted out. Arnold is proving a good manager in this league and a solid as squad.

Gold Coast United: big losses, but some hugely promising youngsters. Will take time to develop but prospects brighter.

Melbourne Heart: Fred isn't the player he was for MV, and the likes of Williams, Dugandzic, Terra and Kalmar need to find consistency.

Melbourne Victory: Muscat retiring improves their defence, Kewell may not last the season, and key players aren't getting any younger. Can go either way.

Newcastle Jets: if they avoid more injuries, their defence is solid enough to put them up there.

Perth Glory: good squad, bad coach.

Sydney FC: will improve but not title contenders.

Wellington Phoenix: tipped to struggle, but still some decent players and good home form. Avoiding injuries the key.

i truly think its ours to lose this season, we have a smart coach with incredible depth for this team. I think the biggest challenge will be keeping everyone happy with limited game time and finding someone to put good balls into our atttack.

Adelaide
Melbourne
Ccm
Brisbane
Heart
Perth
Sydney
Gold coast
Newcastle
Wellungton

If out lot gel we'll go top easily.
MV should have a great start, a goal at least in every game (from the spot), that is till Team Kewell gets injured, won't travel or gets a better offer in January.
Emerton will do the donkey work and carry SFC
So my tips are:
Adelaide Consistent
CCM good, but 1 big problem - Arnie
Brisbane Should be able to carry some of last years form
Sydney only because of Emerton
MV good early, cos of Team Kewell effect, refs friend
Heart also rans
Glory injuries, also rans
Newcastle strugglers, also dependes on Tinklers new marque signing.
Wellington who cares
Gold Coast as above

I'm surprised to see so many people tipping Melbourne up so high. They were better in the warm up game than expected but they don't have the strength in defence or squad depth. Also, are Celeski and Brebner the only real hard workers in the midfield?

My (obviously unbiased ;-) )tips:

Adelaide United (Too much depth, too much quality. Winning mentality)
Central Coast (Always solid, fairly stable squad)
Brisbane (Lost too many good players, premiership hangover might strike them)
Melbourne V (Winning mentality, H.Kewell awe, poor squad will hold them back)
Melbourne H (Reasonable squad, not very impressive though)
Wellington (Purely based on home record)
Sydney (Emmo can't do it all on his own and the pressure will kill the rest of the team)
Perth (Perennial underachievers)
Newcastle (Bad time to lose a coach and Marquee. Will struggle for at least the first half of the season)
The other United (Will be lucky to last the season. Have lost too many good players)

Premiers: Adealaide
GF: Adelaide vs CC
Champions: Adelaide

Awards:
Golden Boot: Van Dijk
Johnny Warren: Emmo
Young Player: Rojas

My observations so far are..

Brisbane have not changed

A mv team with rojas kewell hernandez archie Should scare the hell out of ever defense

Heart are very very quick on the counter

The melbourne derby will be an epic imo as both teams have no defense

And mine:
-Good signs for both Heart & Newcastle... yep, definitely the same Fred..
-Kewell & Emerton might find it tough to stand out, with all the other good players around them. Archie's still top class, + Rojas and Solorzano... wow. Sydney look strengthened but still a bit one-dimensional. And they need to fuck J. Coyne off ASAP, worse than useless.
-Losing Tando & signing Covic is the best thing that could have happened to Victory.
-Roar are light years ahead. If they keep playing like that, they are unstoppable. Adelaide might have a great squad but if we are to match them we need to be able to play as a unit as well as they do. That game against CCM was a bit like watching Spain in the WC final. Patiently prodding and poking, holding onto the ball, eventually finding a way through. CCM did OK on the counter though as Bris committed so many players forward, but really Brisbane shouldn't have much to fear if they keep playing that way..

wow, even after round 1 you tipped Roar to finished 3rd bottom and CCM third?

Agree with GC & Welly in bottom spots though.

yeah, maybe brissy should be a little higher up.

Mariners have a nice squad, they always do well, and matt simon is massively underated, imho
