Another point on Spanish players joining Brisbane. JA was a player in Spain for 7 seasons. 6 of those at La Liga level. I would expect him to have a pretty decent network of mates over there still.
True, but the latest guy is buddies with dimas and also played with him so its probably a case of him seeking an aleague club rsther than an aleague seeking him.

I do agree about aloisi being harshly judged though. He played in the epl, la liga and serie A easily one of our most decorated players ever.

Surely he has learnt a thing or 2 playing at such a hig level that can be passed on at aleague level. From the outside looking in i would say aloisi's emotion and passion has generally been his undoing as he probably isnt that steady hand and stoic manager that tends to be succesful.

I don't disagree that he has had a very decorated playing career - up there with the best of any Australian footballer.

He just doesn't seem that intelligent when I've seen him speak or analyse a game.

He was actually quite good when working as a pundit for Foxsports, his analysis was always good iirc.

That's what I'm basing my judgement on. Always thought his analysis was very average and simplistic.

Just my 2c though.

Melbourne Victory have announced that teenage midfielder Sebastian Pasquali has agreed to join Eredivisie club AFC Ajax.

Wowzers! I'd rather see young kids breaking into the HAL stay longer, but Ajax seem to have a fairly decent record of bringing young kids thru.

Oh well, good luck to the young man.

Daniel Mullen’s father helped the Newcastle Jets recruit veteran Iain Fyfe as a replacement for his injured son.

Best of luck to Fyfey.
How many former AU players have gone to Newcastle now?
Fyfe, Mullen, Watson, Kitto, Walsh, Jeronimo, Flores.

Oh yeah!
The beard is still there. But it's not as lush as it's former glory.

It has to be up there with zenon caravellas comeback. He has been out of top flight football for a very long time.

Robbie Keane being linked with a few HAL clubs. I've heard him to WSW is a done deal although WSW have their full quota of visa players so I'm guessing they're going to have to cut one.

Does a full season guest (ala timmy cahill) count towards the visa quota? All these new rules that they make up as they go along (the Thompson rule, cahill rule, mature rookie rule, the dont ask questions we are melbourne city rules) make it very confusing.

Josh Risdon leaving Glory at season's end, possibly to WSW.

Rhys Williams leaving Glory ASAP probably, rumoured to be heading to Sydney FC. To replace Jurman I suppose.
