Congratulations Fox Sports, you're finally going to get some of my money.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

7th placed Metrostars win 2-1 away to top of the league Blacktown City! Well done lads, prove why SA needs two guaranteed spots in the FFA Cup every year.

What is it about Metrostars and playing inter state clubs?! Underdogs last year and tonight but they didn't care and just stuck in there.

Best of luck to Croydon to win next week B)

You mean it proves the FFSA need to get their arse into gear and get more clubs so our representative numbers are higher! Which to their credit is starting to happen with the State league 1 coming in next season.
I don't really think its fair to the other better run federations to take spots off them when they have better participation numbers.
Although SA sure does have an impressive record in the FFA Cup! 9 games 8 wins!

I don't know a lot on the subject. My guess is either high price of registration fees for players or just overall cost of playing for clubs is too high, but do you know why or the politics behind why SAASL clubs aren't affiliated with the FFSA?

They'd add what? An extra 60-70 clubs to the FFSA. In other Feds the promotion between their "semi pro" and amateur leagues is limited, so why can't that happen here?

I enjoyed the soft goal Heidelberg conceded on the highlights until I found out McMaster was dropped pre-game. Less enjoyable without the schadenfreude

In the past rego fees were a big hindrance for clubs to join which is why the Saasl is so strong and has the financial clout to rival FFSA. So it certainly is a political issue.
But its clear the FFSA has learnt this finally and is making joining up much cheaper and easier for new clubs which is why we'll see Fulham, Mt Barker and Vipers join.
Hopefully the FFSA will sort out something so the college leagues are involved somehow which will boost the club numbers up to around 50.

Becuase ATM its probably fair enouugh that SA has only 1 automatic spot.

We've got half as many clubs involved as WA.

I'm pretty sure it's not on the number of clubs, but the player registrations so the Collegiate league is still involved though they don't compete in the cup. From some mates that are involved in one of those clubs, they could enter the comp but the entry fee is too steep.

Yeah I think its $1,000 or $750 to enter and for those clubs it's likely to be one game. So I can understand their lack of enthusiasm towards it.
Either way SA has a huge percentage of their register footballers not being counted towards it so obviously something needs to happen.

From my count, there was 5 non FFSA clubs that participated in the early rounds.

Do we know the figure of participants in SA compared to other states?
